PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur (Pupuk Kaltim), through the PKT Proaktif program, distributed Rp100 Million in aid to fire victims on Jalan Veteran, Gang Intan RT 21, Berebas Tengah Village, South Bontang District. This social concern was handed over by Pupuk Kaltim Corporate Secretary Anggono Wijaya to representatives of the victims on Thursday (2/4/2026).

Anggono stated that this aid is a form of the company's commitment to the community, while also affirming Pupuk Kaltim's role as a development agent that is always present and responsive to social conditions in Bontang City. There were 17 Heads of Households (KK) who were victims and affected by the incident, so Pupuk Kaltim felt called to help lighten the burden of the victims.

PKT Proaktif is designed as a company instrument to respond to community needs quickly, adaptively, and with direct impact in addressing prevailing conditions. This program is also part of the company's spirit of sustainability, which places the community as a key development partner oriented towards shared prosperity.

"Through PKT Proaktif, Pupuk Kaltim strives to ensure the company's presence is not only reflected in its contributions to the industrial and economic sectors, but also through concrete actions that address community needs, especially when facing emergency situations and disasters," said Anggono, during the direct handover of aid at the fire site.

Anggono explained that Pupuk Kaltim had previously also distributed hundreds of food packages as a quick response to meet the daily basic needs of the victims. This included wearable clothing collected by employees and the company's extended family, which was also distributed directly to the scene.

This is part of the company's proactive step to be promptly present during emergency situations, while also ensuring victims receive initial support while awaiting further handling and recovery processes.

"With this continued support, we hope to assist the post-incident recovery process, as well as encourage the victims to rise and restart their lives better," said Anggono.

Anggono also ensured that Pupuk Kaltim will continue to provide more significant tangible benefits, as a form of the company's commitment to realizing inclusive, sustainable development oriented towards shared prosperity. Through this step, Pupuk Kaltim affirms that the company is not merely an industrial entity, but part of a social ecosystem that has a responsibility to grow together with the community.

Representing the Bontang City Government, Acting Head of South Bontang District, Hatamuddin, expressed appreciation for Pupuk Kaltim's concern for its residents. He said that this aid is greatly needed by both the victims and those affected by the fire. According to coordination between the Company and the District, the aid is divided into three classifications: homeowners who are victims, tenants, and those affected. This is adjusted to the priority of handling for post-disaster recovery.

"We thank Pupuk Kaltim for caring for our residents since the beginning of the fire. We ensure that this aid is distributed according to its target for all victims and those affected," said Hatamuddin.

Similarly, RT 21 Chairman Misidianto also stated that the company's assistance is very meaningful for the victims, especially since Pupuk Kaltim has been present since the beginning of the incident through the distribution of food and clothing. He believes that this step reflects Pupuk Kaltim's commitment as a community partner, always present during difficult situations and in need of collective support.

“May this be a blessing and a continuous charity for all employees and the extended family of Pupuk Kaltim. We can only pray for the best for the company,” said Misidianto.

One of the homeowner victims, Yati, expressed great gratitude for Pupuk Kaltim's assistance. Given that the back of her house was burnt, it needed immediate repairs to be habitable again. Especially with economic limitations, she previously could only surrender and hope for compassion to help repair her dwelling.

"Alhamdulillah, Pupuk Kaltim helped, so our house can be repaired soon. This means a lot to our family," said Yati.(*)
