PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur (Pupuk Kaltim) once again achieved a positive milestone in sustainability by receiving the 2025 Gold PROPER (Company Performance Rating Program in Environmental Management) award from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry/Environmental Control Agency (KLH/BPLH).

This marks the 9th consecutive time Pupuk Kaltim has successfully received the highest award from the government, which is given to businesses that support environmental management and the community.

The award was presented directly by the Minister of Environment, Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, to the President Director of Pupuk Kaltim, Gusrizal, at the award ceremony in Sasono Langen Budoyo, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, Jakarta, on Tuesday (7/4/2026).

Gusrizal stated that this achievement demonstrates Pupuk Kaltim's commitment to implementing the principle of beyond compliance, not only focusing on regulatory fulfillment but also encouraging innovations that directly impact the environment and society.

“This achievement reflects Pupuk Kaltim's commitment to go beyond regulatory compliance, by presenting various innovations that provide real benefits for the environment and society,” said Gusrizal.

This success is supported by various excellent innovations implemented by the company throughout 2025, both in terms of social innovation, eco-innovation, and the application of carbon economy to support corporate sustainability. Pupuk Kaltim consistently integrates sustainability principles into all business lines, including through strengthening operational efficiency and developing environmentally friendly products.

In terms of social innovation, Pupuk Kaltim presents the PKT BISA program (Integrated Area Development Based on Agroenergy System Integration) which encourages the utilization of agricultural and livestock waste into alternative biogas energy, while also supporting the increase in community agricultural productivity. This program integrates the agricultural, livestock, and renewable energy sectors in one integrated area.

In addition, the company also runs the TAMASYA program (Children's Nurturing Park) as a form of contribution to community empowerment, especially in improving the quality of childcare and family welfare around the operational area.

Meanwhile, on the environmental side, Pupuk Kaltim strengthens eco-innovation through the Road to Zero Waste concept, which encourages independent and sustainable waste management. This initiative is part of the company's efforts to reduce dependence on landfills, while also creating added value from waste.

Through this eco-innovation, waste is considered a valuable resource, and with proper management, it will provide benefits not only for the company but also for the surrounding community. The commitment to sustainability is also realized through the implementation of Carbon Economic Value (NEK), including the construction of Solar Power Plants (PLTS). To date, Pupuk Kaltim has realized the construction of PLTS phase 1 in 2022 with a capacity of 1.2 Megawatts (MW) and phase 2 in 2024 with a capacity of 2.6 MW.

Going forward, Pupuk Kaltim plans to build PLTS with a capacity of 2.3 MW in 2026, as well as a plan for CO2 utilization cooperation. The implementation of this Carbon Economic Value is a strategic step for Pupuk Kaltim in supporting emission reduction targets and strengthening its commitment towards becoming a low-carbon company.

On the operational side, Pupuk Kaltim also continues to strengthen efficiency and performance excellence through various initiatives, including the Revamping of Ammonia Plant-2, as well as downstream and product diversification initiatives such as through the development of a soda ash plant.
