Realizing Harmonious Industrial Relations, Pupuk Kaltim and SP KKPKT Officially Sign PKB 2026–2028
PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur (Pupuk Kaltim) officially signed the results of the Collective Labor Agreement (PKB) negotiations with the Pupuk Kaltim Employee Corps Labor Union (SP KKPKT) for the 2026–2028 period. The signing of the PKB was witnessed directly by the Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia, Yassierli, as well as representatives from Danantara and Pupuk Indonesia in Jakarta, Tuesday (14/4/2026).
President Director of Pupuk Kaltim, Gusrizal, stated that the signing of the PKB is an important milestone in ensuring the sustainability of Pupuk Kaltim, as well as maintaining employee welfare amidst the dynamics of the national fertilizer industry transformation.
This is also a strategic step in strengthening harmonious, dynamic, and equitable industrial relations within the company. In addition, it builds strong synergy between management and employees through a constructive negotiation process to create a healthy and productive work environment.
"This is a tangible manifestation of our commitment to maintaining a balance between the company's interests and employee welfare. It is also an important instrument to ensure that industrial relations at Pupuk Kaltim remain harmonious, adaptive, and sustainable," said Gusrizal.
According to Gusrizal, the preparation of the PKB was carried out through an intensive bipartite negotiation process between management and SP KKPKT. In this period, SP KKPKT was the only labor union that met the requirements and passed verification to participate in the negotiations, so all discussions were conducted directly between the two parties as legitimate representatives.
General Chairman of SP KKPKT, Partono, stated that this year's PKB negotiation process was full of dynamics. However, it still prioritized the spirit of deliberation and mutual respect.
Partono explained that SP KKPKT made maximum efforts to fight for the aspirations and interests of employees at each stage of the negotiations, so that the results achieved were the best compromise acceptable to both parties.
“We realize that the company's condition and the direction of the holding company's policy also influence the substance of the PKB. However, we ensure that employee rights remain protected. There is no decrease in welfare, and that is a principle we firmly uphold in negotiations,” explained Partono.
The signing of the PKB is also expected to provide legal certainty for all parties in carrying out employment relations. In addition, it serves as a guideline in creating more harmonious and equitable industrial relations, and supports the sustainable continuity of Pupuk Kaltim.
"We appreciate management's openness in dialogue, as well as their willingness to find joint solutions to various issues that arose during the negotiation process. This is key to achieving a constructive agreement," added Partono.
Minister of Manpower, Yassierli, also appreciated the PKB agreement between Pupuk Kaltim and SP KKPKT. Yassierli said that the bipartite negotiation process, which led to an agreement, showed that the industrial relations mechanism at Pupuk Kaltim has been running very well, in accordance with the principles of constructive and equitable social dialogue.
"We see that both parties are committed to maintaining a balance between the company's interests and worker welfare. This is important, because harmonious industrial relations can only be realized if there is a sense of justice and trust from both parties," explained Yassierli.
Furthermore, Yassierli emphasized that the next challenge lies in the consistent and collaborative implementation of the PKB. This aligns with the view that industrial relations should not merely stop at a harmonious level, but must continue to be enhanced towards productive and transformative synergy.
This will demonstrate the maturity of industrial relations, so that dynamics can be managed well, and formalized through a written agreement to provide legal certainty and a sense of justice for all parties.
“We must encourage industrial relations to level up to synergistic, where management and workers move together to achieve company goals while continuously improving welfare. And Pupuk Kaltim can be an example of this, in accordance with the vision and mission it carries,” concluded Yassierli.(*)
